HPLC (purity testing)
High-performance liquid chromatography. Standard purity test for peptides.
HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) separates a sample into its components and measures their relative concentrations. For peptides, HPLC reports purity as a percentage — pharma-grade is ≥98%, with the remaining 2% being related impurities (synthesis byproducts, truncated sequences). Purity reported via UV spectroscopy or just visual inspection is much less reliable than HPLC. Always check that a vendor COA specifies the testing method.
