In plain words.

GHRP-6 is a small , six amino acids long. It is the original version of this hunger-and-growth-hormone family.

Like GHRP-2, it copies ghrelin, your hunger hormone. It pushes your body to release a burst of growth hormone. So it is a , meaning it makes you release your own growth hormone.

Its claim to fame is intense hunger. People often feel a strong urge to eat within minutes of a shot. It came out of lab work in the 1990s. There is almost no modern human data on it.

What people use it for.

People use GHRP-6 to try to raise their own growth hormone for muscle, recovery, or fat loss.

But the real draw is the hunger. It produces a stronger appetite spike than GHRP-2. People on a bulk sometimes want exactly that.

It is older and less popular now, since cleaner options exist.

Does it actually work?

The proof is very thin. Thinner than GHRP-2, even.

It does release growth hormone, and it reliably triggers hunger. Those effects are real. But the evidence is just small pilot studies from the 1990s. There is no .

The hunger is so reliable that people sometimes use it just to prove the shot worked.

The same long-term worry applies: it raises , which is a cancer concern over time. We have no long-term safety data. So this is a guess, built on very old science.

Triggering your own hormone is not the same as harmless. It pushes up, and chronically high IGF-1 is a long-term cancer flag that those 1990s pilot studies were never built to catch. It's also WADA-banned, so a tested athlete fails.

The typical research dose people mention is around 200 mcg. The is short, about 15 to 30 minutes, so it does not stick around long.

What to watch out for.

The common stuff

  • A strong, fast hunger spike. Stronger than GHRP-2. For some people this is the point. For others it backfires.

The serious stuff

  • It raises , which is a long-term cancer concern. No long-term safety data exists.
  • It is banned in sports by WADA. A tested athlete will fail.
  • Avoid it if you have had cancer recently, or if you have a binge-eating history.
  • Do not it on top of a GHRH-type like CJC-1295 or sermorelin. That doubles the growth hormone signal and the rise, which stacks the cancer worry.

Where people get it.

Here are the ways people get it, safest to riskiest.

  • Brand. Does not exist. There is no GHRP-6.
  • . A few pharmacies make it with a prescription, around $100–$220 a month. Most clinics avoid it because of the hunger effect.
  • Research-only (). This is most of the supply. About $25–$70 a month.
  • raw. The cheapest, $3–$10 a month. Banned in sports no matter the source.

If you buy research-grade, ask for a , a lab report on the vial. Make sure it lists molecular weight, since that is the only way to tell GHRP-6 (873) apart from GHRP-2 (817). They get swapped often.

Our honest take.

The proof never caught up
GHRP-6 does two things you can count on: a small bump in your own growth hormone, and a hunger wave so strong that people use it mainly to confirm the vial is real. Paying for runaway hunger is a strange deal, and that is most of the payoff here.

The real catch is that the science behind it stalled in the 1990s and never restarted. The cancer question still has no long answer, it is banned in sport, and you would be running on tiny pilot studies older than most of the people buying it.

This is the original model that newer secretagogues were built to replace. If a growth-hormone nudge is genuinely the goal, reach for one of those instead. There is no good reason to start with the one everyone else already moved on from.
