Built from 60 cited studies.
- you tore something and your PT said "give it 6 weeks" and you don't have 6 weeks
- you've seen lifters on TikTok talking about it and want to know if it's real
- you're recovering from surgery and your gym friend mentioned it
- your dog's vet recommended it and you got curious for yourself
- you want FDA-approved medication — this is research-only territory
- you have an active or recent cancer history — the angiogenesis mechanism is the unanswered question
- you're not comfortable with a research-grade supply chain and daily subcutaneous injections
- Any unusual symptoms — especially relevant if you have a personal or family cancer history (angiogenesis mechanism for BPC-157, TB-500).
- 12 weeks with no perceived improvement vs the no-peptide trajectory.
- New pain or symptoms at injection site that don't resolve in 48 hours.
What it is.
BPC stands for "Body Protection Compound." It's a partial sequence of a larger protein found naturally in human gastric juice, isolated by a Croatian research group led by Predrag Sikiric in the 1990s. The "157" refers to the specific 15-amino-acid fragment they synthesized.
Almost every published BPC-157 paper traces back to that same lab. This is a yellow flag. Independent replication is what separates a real signal from a researcher's lifelong project. We're still waiting for that replication outside Croatia.
The molecule itself is small enough to be made cheaply by a -synthesis pharmacy. It's sold as a research chemical () in the US — meaning it can be sold legally for research purposes but cannot be marketed for human use. Read about RUO sourcing.
