Lyophilized (lyo)

Freeze-dried powder. The form most peptides ship in.

Lyophilization is freeze-drying. The peptide solution is frozen and then the water is removed under vacuum, leaving a stable powder cake at the bottom of the vial. Lyo peptides are shelf-stable for 12-24 months unrefrigerated, which is why they ship as powder rather than pre-mixed solution. To use, you reconstitute the powder with bacteriostatic water.
